The Art Of Layers

The air changes first. Before the leaves, before the frost, there is a certain sharpness to the morning that tells you the season is turning.

This is the time for layers.

Layering For The Season

Dressing for the cold is not about adding more. It is about choosing well. Each piece should earn its place.

We think of the barn in October. Breath visible in the air. Hands wrapped around a cup before the gloves go on. There is a particular comfort in being dressed for it, in knowing the cold cannot reach you because you thought ahead.

This season, we are drawn to pieces that hold up to that morning chill and still feel right at midday, when the sun finally does its work. Wool. Waxed cotton. Leather that only softens with wear.

Some mornings ask more of us. Layer well, and they ask a little less.
